Stories & Memories of Tzion Goldstein

Making Time for Me as a Fussy Teenager

From the first time I met Tzion Goldstein I always found that his goodness and kindness radiated around him. He always put others before himself. I remember one time I came to New York City to visit my family when I was about seventeen. I was a fussy teenager and wanted to go shopping for sneakers in Manhattan at night. He saw I was so impatient that as soon as Shabat ended, while he had plenty of things to do, he took me and waited in Times Square. Just to please me! I still remember it twenty years later. He passed on this mida of chessed to his wonderful children, of whom he was so proud!

Another, somewhat sadder anecdote, goes back to one of his hospital stays. We came to visit him while we were in New York, and he was so happy and content to see us that he made us forget the harsh reality of his situation! We came out of the hospital full of chizuk and good vibes, even though we had come to give him chizuk. Tzion was a light with a special neshama, full of kindness and generosity that radiated to all around him and whose merit continues to accompany us.
