Stories & Memories of Tzion Goldstein

To Speak of an Angel

To speak of Tzion is to speak of an angel. My dear friend Tzion, whom I met 28 years ago on my first journey to the Rebbe. Then, as the years went by, I traveled to the Seagate Yeshiva, where I stayed for almost a year.

It was very difficult for me since I lacked language skills and I had never been in yeshiva full time. After a while I wanted to go back. In those days Tzion was driving a truck, doing deliveries for an appliance company. And I remember one day when I went to see him he offered to accompany him. Honestly, that trip cleared my mind. Tzion was a true Shaliach at the wheel; he spoke to the point; with the authenticity of a malach. He showed me how Hashem constantly directs our steps; how the Rebbe had chosen me, as an older bochur, to leave a career in journalism to enter deeply into the studies of Chassidus.

I find it difficult to speak in the past tense. Tzion is always present in my life, and today, when there is something that troubles me, I vividly remember his words. Tzion, I will be eternally grateful to you. Soon we will meet the Rebbe at the great Farbrengen of the Geulah.
