Stories & Memories of Tzion Goldstein

By: Rafi Halevy August 6

Tzion.

Tzion. I am at a loss for words on how to describe the tremendous feelings I feel towards him. His depth of chracter and soul are beyond description. So instead I will share a memory that comes to mind.I was once driving Tzion to the hospital in the last 6 months of his life in for the purpose of changing and replacing his feeding tube. He was clearly in excruciating pain, and the bumps on the windy road were definitely not aiding but were increasing the pain. Despite his state of incredible agony, he maintained his disciplined focus and continued delving into his shiurim of Chitas and Rambam.

He wanted to pay me, but I refused to take it; it was my personal privilege and honor to be able to partake in aiding my dear friend, especially such of the likes of Tzion, radiating of such caliber and brotherliness of. A few months later I was cleaning out my car and I suddenly found money from Tzion hidden in the ash tray of my car. This is a minuscule snippet of the unnassuming, kindhearted nature of Tzion.

Generally in life, the body takes the neshama around, but in Tzion's case, as he himself said, "my Neshama is taking my body around." As illness took a toll to his physical body, which was slowly deteriorating, his soul was growing in strength. Strengthening his soul and connection to Hashem was literally keeping him alive. As I know Tzion, he’s not gonna give Moshiach a choice. Moshiach has to and will come now!
