Gracious Guests

Around 2002 I ran a camp fro 4-6 year old boys in our backyard on Jarlath. The campers met in a tent set up for that purpose and such activities as “bike trips” in the neighborhood and baking. Many of the participants were boys whose families attended Beis Menachem. One week, in the spirit of hachnosas orchim, we invited ‘Bubby and Zayde Moscowitz’ for ‘tea’. They happily obliged us and the boys were so excited. The campers provided adult seating around a child sized table. The little hosts served homemade cookies and tea. A lovely conversation ensued and the guest couple shared that is was their anniversary. To this day I find it incredible that they humored these boys and graciously attended the backyard “event”, and that on such an auspicious day, simply and without aires, they graced us with their time and unhurried presence.
