Mit Shich- With shoes

One Simchas Torah I was dancing with reb Mendel in Lubavitcher yeshiva in Toronto, when he turned to me and said ‘’ Mit Shich ‘’ which means ‘’With Shoes’’. I did not understand what he meant and asked him. He said he remembers dancing in his parents apartment in Russia as a child but they had to dance in their socks, not wearing their shoes as the noise would have exposed them as celebrating Simchas Torah, something forbidden by the Russian government and the downstairs neighbors would have told the KGB on them. He was thankful that we were zocheh to be dancing on Simchas Torah ‘’ Mit Shich ‘’.
